Program Descriptions for the Noogieland Calendars
Kid Support - A 10 week peer support group for kids ages 4-11 who have cancer in their lives. This program was developed by Dr. Ann Speltz who is an educator, breast cancer survivor, parent and author of The Year my Mother was Bald (Magination Press, 2003). We highly encourage that each week be attended as the concepts learned build upon each other. A mandatory Parent Orientation is scheduled before the start of the program. Please contact the Noogieland Coordinator to sign up.
Parent Networking – A group for the members of Kid Support & Teen Support. It is held in the main house and runs simultaneously with Kid & Teen Support. Parent Networking offers parents raising children and/or teens a place to be together to provide support for each other while they have cancer in their life. A review of the activities planned for Kid Support & Teen Support are offered.
Kids Living with Loss – An open-ended bereavement group for kids ages 4-11 who have lost some one to cancer. This is a peer support group where members can relate, encourage and learn from each other. We use age appropriate activities and games to facilitate discussions. An adult grief group occurs simultaneously in the club house. Please contact the Noogieland Coordinator to sign up. Registration is required.
Teens Living with Loss – An open-ended bereavement group for teens ages 12-18 who have lost some one to cancer. This is a peer support group where members can relate, encourage and learn from each other. We use activities and games to facilitate discussions. An adult grief group occurs simultaneously in the club house. Please contact the Noogieland Coordinator to sign up. Registration is required.
Toddler Time – A group for our youngest members. It is facilitated by our wonderful trained volunteers. Toddler Time is full of fun. They sing songs, do finger plays, arts and crafts, explore music and their favorite – have a snack!
Noogies in the Kitchen – A group led by a volunteer that provides our young members with an opportunity to cook in the kitchen. We provide a recipe and demonstration and they get to make their own snack (with some help if needed). The best part – your kitchen stays clean!
